Chapter 6- Place of schools in society

This chapter talks about schools in society and its influence inside of school. Develop of citizenship, students preparation get jobs, development of academic and social skills are some of the roles of schools. Also, in the school are different cultures that determines the way to behavior and to think, as well it is a support student learning.  In addition, parents have chance to choose where their children would study. They can choose between public and private school at public expense. Schools locations can be rural, suburban or urban areas, but suburban areas is growing. In conclusion, academic achievement is at the center of effective schools independently of their race, native language, or disability. Schools in society has been center of studies and understanding culture and values.

Chapter 5- Building an educational philosophy in a changing world

To build on the educational philosophies of others is one strategy that can help to develop one's own personal philosophy. In this chapter it is described six educational philosophies: Essentialism that focus on to transmit the cultural heritage and develop good citizens. Behaviriosm focus on carefully developed behavioral objectives and contends empirical evidence. Positivism rejects essences, intuition, and beliefs about mind, spirit, and consciousness. Progressivism emphasizes ideas that should be experimented  and that learning is rooted in questions developed by students. Humanism believes innate goodness of the person and schools should emphasize the relationship between teacher and students.  Constructivim emphasizes developing personal meaning through hands-on, activity-based teaching and learning. In conclusion, daily one must consider the effect in a philosophy of education for acting responsibly in society.

Chapter 4- Philosophy: Reflections on the essence of education

Philosophical perspectives offer a way to study and understand the world. Structure and methodology of philosophy are the way to define, presupposes ideas and question about human nature and search answers for life. Metaphysics, Epistemology, Axiology are branches of Philosophy. Also, Abstraction, Imagination and Generalization and Logic are analytic ways of thinking in Philosophy. Discernment, Connection, Tracking Hypocrisy and hope are prophetic ways of thinking in philosophy. In conclusion, Eastern and Native North American knowing share an primary sensitive nature and emphasizes wisdom. 

Chapter 3- Historical perspectives of education

In this chapter we can read about the amount of students and how it is increasing. So, the school has to be bigger to support those students. Also, there is an expansion of educational curricula to attend various kinds of students at all levels. Such as, programs to students with special needs. The teaching profession has developed and improved educational systems, and also has changed goals of education. Furthermore, we can see that preparation for be a teacher has evolved. And also, many current trends have been included in act educational. As study of the teaching act, teacher effectiveness research, sociological studies, the development of new learning theories, and other research hard work designed to help better comprehend and improve student education. In conclusion, analyze all the history show us that Education has been improve and everybody can do better to improve more and more. However, some current challenge has its origin in the educational history.  

Chapter 2- The early History of education in a chaging world

In 476 CE the act of educate has been provided for children over the ages by aboriginal people. Then, Socrates, Plato and Aristotle who are Greek philosophers produced some methods to teach. Each one has their particular beliefs. In the middle ages the education had the dark ages (400-1000) when human learning regressed for variety political and religious conditions. But, Charlemagne and Alcuin had a great importance in that period, influencing religious education and arts.  Such as, Thomas Aquinas and Medieval universities helped to change this period, with new educational and philosophical views and increase in educational activity. Then, Renaissance when Vittorino da Feltre was an important and influential educator who established several schools. Also, Erasmos was the most famous humanist educator. In addition, the Reformation was another important movement in the period between 1300-1700 when Education in transition. Time when Martin Luther who was against Roman Catholic Church, Ignatius of Loyola who organized the Society of Jesus, Comenius who reflected the increasing interest that was then evolving in science. Another important period was Educational awakening when Descartes, Voltaire, Rousseau, Pestalozzi, Herbart and Froebel contributed to educational advancement in various ways. In conclusion, we can understand many aspects looking at history and realize that viewpoints on education have varied through the ages.

Some Tutors Are Shouldering a Wider Load

The purpose of tutoring program is changing its conception in practice. Because tutors are shouldering a role that is not their. Students need a tutoring program to help them to  study better and aid in their subjects in school. But, tutors are acting as therapist and a personal assistant. Parents have paid for tutoring, and "according to Ms. Ayaz, tutoring is a $50 billion to $70 billion industry, with anywhere from 30 million to 50 million tutors worldwide." In conclusion, tutoring has grown in big scale. Because students need not only help with their homeworks, but they need a life support, what is not the role from a tutor.

Chapter One - The teaching profession.

This chapter talks about the current teachers, teacher's work in class, quality teaching, 

challenges that be a teacher going on the way and teaching career. There are many public and private schools and teachers amount vary place to place. However, teachers who are successful are gathering and finding some ways to improve their work in class. Also, they can learn every day more and be updated with their resources to teach better.Salary is a challenge also, because in some schools  teacher gain lowersalary  than they deserve.  In conlusion, to be a great teacher requires some attitudes, such as to be flexible, optimistic, self-reflective, preogressive, and innovative. Be a teacher is create something new to their pupils to learn better.

Reflection Sebastian's speech

Sebastian talked about race and some of the challenges that black people had faced. He say equality is something that people would have, to be successful. Just equality give to people success in their lives. It is not the color of the skin, but the intelect ability shows what someone is in personality and your skills.

Also, he said that interpretation is different between languages, and it is not one better than another. In adition, Sebastian talked about children and how theyr feel safe when meet someone like them. Children like someone who give motivation and respect. Education changes people and construct their personality.

Rushed maths leads to "superficial" learning, reports says.

According to Advisory Committee on Mathematics Education (Acme) students in England are developing mathematicians skills. Professor Steve Sparks, of Acme, says "urged deep learning over rapid progress".
It is proved that students in primary have ability from second level through the curriculum. This is an issue that requires a reform to produce a curriculum to students in Level-A. This can be a challenge, but student might be fine studying in their time. Because the result is not successful, students just have superficial understanding about Maths. Despite of England have been on top, researches shows that schools only has accelerated their students and this is not a proof that students are learning as they should. However, the government is providing a review in the schools to change this situation.

How to help with primary reading, maths, homework.

This article talks about how help children to like to read. Parents can help their children since they are a little baby, before they can read. Also, take children to the library encourage them to like it. Parents should read to them books that are interesting, such as books in different languages. Furthermore, books must be in a place where children can take them. In the maths studies parents can show to their children that Maths is around us daily. Also, children can learn playing interesting games , puzzles and jigsaws to develop their math skills. Maths can be learn through the shapes around home, let children manage their money, such as look for plates on the streets.
Parents should help their children to do homework, but not parent do instead of children. First they should be in a quiet place to have concentration and learn better, such as no TV or anything that could distracts children; to know the new methods to help children, such as "timetable and agree on when your child will do their homework."
The article show time to spend with homeworks:

Years 1 and 2	60 minutes a week
Years 3 and 4	90 minutes a week
Years 5 and 6	30 minutes a day or equivalent over two/three evenings or at the weekend

The Filand Phenomenon

The video shows that it is possible do more and more for Education, that is it that happen in Finland. Teaching is going too serious and  to be a teacher is not going well, but do your work the best that it can. The main reason for succesful is teacher education. Research teaching education is the focus to improve your knowledge and be updated, because everyday are invented new sources to improve the teaching. Also, to learn, to think pedagogically and be reflected, such as encouraging are the difference to give the best for Education. 

They work together of the teachers is very important to improve teaching, and that is it that they do. Discussing the better ways to hold concentration and attention from students. Teachers say that the most important to teaching is not transmite knowledge, but to give a chicange for students share experiences, explore more their leraning, create a new information and knowledge. Teachers understand that the important is do the best, is not the money. They see the priority and make changes.

The resources that they have are the diferencial in the students's life, because studying is not only a few hours in the classroom, but beyond the classes. Computers, eletronics, workshops and textbooks help students to learn better. However, teachers support students also in their vocation to be better in the future. Teachers are presents and they have a different way to encourage students to study. Such as tutoring programs, doing projects and participing of the small group of discussion. So, those sources give to students support to continue their studies. This way students learn that theyr have to be social too for the life.

The data says that the hours that teachers spend in classroom are lesser than American teachers, such as the money that they spend with each student. Otherwise, it not works very well, or even that do not work.

Furthermore, teachers work together to do the best for children with special needs, that is a type of work that we cannot see in all schools around the world.

Schools there offer free food for students, all kind of meals during the day. I could see that the fodd is healthy and the place is clean.

In conclusion, the work in coperation works better than any other way to teaching and make the best for Education in general. Schools should do many things that the schools in Filand do it now, but adepting to own culture of every country. A teacher says "It is much more important than to learn and think to learn and repeat...", that it is the essential to really learn and practice your learning and develop more and more, such as add a new knowledge to the other.

Brazilian Sign Language is increasing more and more. The children in the school are learning each other. The teacher is even more, learning about the sign language to speak with their students. The interpreter in the class is not a teacher, his role is just transmit what is the subject that the teacher is speaking. The Portuguese teaching like a second language in Brazil, has many problemas that the researchers are trying to change and make the best for deaf children inside of schools.Many search show how the children should be literate and there are many resources to do really works.

We can see how much is difficult parents are involved in their children's Education. There are many reasons for this, and one of them is the less time to pay attention in their kids. "A divorce can shatter the life of a kid, but this is not a rule." Another relationship between applicant is "unstructured" and the little family involvement in school issues. Nowadays the structure of family have changed. It is not like people think, like father, child and mother. We can see grandparents taking care of the children. Also, I new structure of family, like gays. Reflection: Freedom Writers

           " Freedom Writers" is a movie about a school with many problems about racism and violence. A teacher Erin Gruwell (Hilary Swank), was be able to change the class with a didatic that had not  being done. Beyond of teaching your subject, the teacher gave many tasks that make the students change their behavior, with each other. through a diary, each student wrote their feelings, moments that have passed and their thinkings about the life. That why they could set free.
           This movie is a great lesson to life, for the all teacher that had got hard moments. It is like a push to keep in that profession, that is not easy. Each teacher spends for hard moments in the class, but the best is do no give up and keep going to do the best for the students. In every profession the people spend  good and bad moments, but teaching is the superation of own person. The teachers have to have love for their profession. in addition they have to keeping a healthy mind and do not leave that their activities negatively influence in their personal life.

There are many reasons to make a teacher missed your class. "According to the survey, 30% of Brazilian students are in schools where lack of teachers affects learning."
Some reasons are: maternity license (a period that the women just who had a baby), sick leaves for studies, days affluent and the most common is medical certificates. After that, some researches show that devalues the profession and as if the miss were a exchange paid into the low wage.

The indian people are our origin. For long days they had some problems with their freedom about their fields and their culture, because some people want to take their rights. 

Between many rights taken, their Education is precarious and your language was repressed to be spoken freely. Nowadays many things are being changed. The indian people are having some improvements about their rights in Education.

It was "created the Program to Support Higher Education and Undergraduate Intercultural Indigenous (PROLIND) in 2005, for teachers of the final years of the Elementary School and Middle.

The right to bilingual and intercultural education was already guaranteed in the Law of Guidelines and Bases of National Education (LDB) and the National Curriculum Reference for Indian Schools."

For many historical reasons the indian people should have more resources to their Education and also the profession of Teacher in their tribes. In this way, we can see the changes about  the teaching of the indian people, walking in slowly step.

About Mr. Johnson speeches.

Mr.Philip Johnson had a good participation in our class in 09/12/2012, that talked about "Reflection on teaching". He showed and discussed about 12 important questions about teaching. Those 12 question involve teachers needs in classroom, the various ways to include children with special needs and what kind of disabilities are found at classroom, strategies to do the best and what challenges on way. And personally how him 25 years working at classroom has being and him advice gave to working with parents and that comunication to work better with them.

The one question that most took my attention was: What resources  are avaliable in schools to help work with students with special needs in your classroom? Well, when the school has a good teacher, the resources can be created by own teachers and doing a good job with that children. Likewise, the other side can be hard. Even the teacher is good and no resources, the work at the school can be weak or missed some activities that could be better to the children.

Anyway, a good teacher reflects about your job with the children and supporting them of the better way as possible.

Brian Williams talked with over 300 teachers from across the country in Education Nation's 2012 Teacher Town Hall.

      They talk about many problems in American Education and bring questions no answer. The TV presenter bring a guest from oyler community learning center that speaks about their project in the schools.
 I agree when the wanda Neville (oyler community learning center) when she says that  with their school and principle they have to be able to bring Private and Public school that \could "combine resources, customize that our students needs specifically..." But, she said something obvious "The children deserve it a superior education".
     There are many problems with American Education (but, all around the world, too) that increase every more and no answer. Anyway, the people just says this or that should be done, just theories. But didn't say HOW this should be done! 

Chapter 3- Historical perspectives of Education

       The History of Education show many advanced and struggle during the all past. Happened many changes in American education thus far. The increase of the numbers of students, teachers  and help from the Government.
       We can see the increase the number of students because came from rural settings also. Then, which it was required more teacher and building with large schools to support these students. For the teachers such as the increase of educational curricula, various programs that attend different levels, includ students with special needs; the preparation of teachers changed the way of how to be a teacher, not a simple teacher, but well prepared to work, through exigent training. Thereafter the government helps the Education, with the criating of various programs to attend all the staff at school, to regularization of the working at the schools.
     This way the Education can be better and work well to all the students and attend them how they deserve it. Also, the teacher have had more value for the Government and work in partner to do the best for the children future.

Reflection "2 million minutes".

The video is about three students from different cultures and how their time is spent in the High School. That video show their routines, their families and hobbies.  The americans students spent less time studying Math than students from India and China, that's why they were the less succesful in competitions. 
I could see that the more the students dedicate your time to study, more succesful they are in their career.When one person is focusing on the future and want to be somebody succesful in the life, this person can do everything to get your goal.

This news talk about the real life in a rural zone in some cities in many parts of Brazil.

Many public elementary schools has a precarious situation. Many of them doesn't have even a restroom to the students. It's a sad situation see that many students don't have opportunities to study in good conditions.

Some policies published says that each student will have a tablet to make your study better. But the question is: when?
These students even hasn't a restroom and to have a 'tablet' looks like a distant future.
When politicies will do something beyond the paper?

Reflection about the DVD "Speaking in Tongues"

       Many times we think that some people are fool or stupid for can't speak our language, until that one day you see yourself in a situation that you are the fool. The world is more interesting  with many languages, with your own structure, your way of pronounce, speaking and writing.

         This video show the difficulties about learning a different language and how the people feel before many words that you don't know the meaning. Are many funny moments, some moments that you feel anguished and others that you get well and getting proud of yourself. But, it's through the mistakes that you learn. The more you practice and listening you learn more, you don't forget the words learned before and learn news words.

      The result can be the best if you think that you can and try to learn to speak and hold a conversation in a foreign language, even making some mistakes in the begining.
